I didn’t think that it was possible for 2017 to surpass my 2016 travels. After all, I had spent the New Year in Toronto, backpacked through Europe on a solo adventure for 40 days, and then checked out Panama for Thanksgiving. I truly was satisfied and although my goal is to reach 30 states & countries by 30th birthday, I vowed to never rush myself for the sake of crossing a number off of my list.
Well, when I sat down and reviewed every place I had ventured off to in 2017, my mouth dropped. Yes, I had gone to Europe twice, but when I think about the other places and the domestic travel I did as well? It was a bit shocking! Once again, I was all over the place and 2018 isn’t looking like I intend on slowing down either. I am thankful that I have the will to go alone, the ability to fly pretty cheaply from Dallas, but also possess friends that will deal with my desires to visit random places and do silly things.

I then decided to take it a step further and thing about where I am not really in a rush to return to at the moment.
Favorite new US destination: Oakland, CA. I wish I had more time to explore it. I loved that it was significantly blacker than San Francisco and easier on my wallet. I’m a sucker for street art and saw quite the collection of murals.
Favorite new international destination: Budapest!!! I smile just thinking about that city. I ended up missing a bus to Prague because I was just having too much fun and I didn’t waste those days. From monster mosquito bites and all, I LOVED it there.
Least favorite new US destination: I was originally going to say Baltimore but then I remembered that I said -new- US destination and so surprisingly enough, I’m going to say South Padre Island. What made it memorable was that I got to spend quality time with some of my closest girls for my birthday. With that being said, it seems as though the cities dies a bit after Spring Break and I’m glad I did it, but I don’t need to immediately return.
Least favorite international destination: If you have been following along for awhile, I am sure you will already know my answer to this. Marrakech!!!! I’m not talking about it right now because I’m in a good mood. *wink wink*
Now, for the good stuff. I have taken so many photos from the year and choosing 20 was straight up hard. I have fond memories of my travels from 2017 between my first baecation, girls trip, international bachelorette party, football with one of my best friends, and some kick-ass solo travels. Trust me when I say, there are plenty more but I hope you enjoy this gallery and it encourages you to step out of your comfort zone and see some more of the world.
How was your 2017 when it came to travel? I’d love to hear about it! Let’s chat.
